Gambling Could Be Coming To Miami Beach Hotels
The state of Florida has already begun down the road to full casino gambling. The steps have been taken by voters in several counties and South Florida in particular is leading the way. News has now surfaced that Miami might be the next area to receive casino gambling.
The Fontainbleau in Miami Beach could become the first hotel in the area to have a casino. A constitutional amendment has been offered that would allow any hotel with more than 800 rooms to have a casino.
The Fontainbleau is currently the only hotel in Miami Beach that would fit that criteria. If the law was passed, however, many of the hotels would surely renovate quickly to add a casino. Others would also most certainly be built in order to operate casinos.
If the amendment passes, it would be the next step for South Florida to overtake casinos in the Northeast and become the top gambling destination on the East Coast. Broward County already has Vegas style slots at its pari-mutuel facilities and blackjack and baccarat at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood.
Donald Trump had been active years ago in acquiring hotels for the exact reason of casino gambling. He knew that Florida would eventually move towards legalizing casino gambling and now it appears that the movement is not far away.
Other states have also expanded their casino gambling laws in the face of these tough economic times. State governments have found that revenue from these casinos have played an important part in survival during the current state of the economy.
