Arizona Charlie's Hotel and Casino had to be evacuated on Saturday after a man claimed to have a bomb. The threat turned out to be a hoax, and gambling resumed hours after the incident took place in Sin City.

A man walked in to the casino and approached a security desk where he told a security officer that he had a bomb. He showed the device to the guard and other guards soon came to help out. The man was coerced into going outside the casino, but in the meantime the casino was evacuated.

As the casino was evacuated, Boulder Highway outside of the casino was also shut down for a period of time. Once the police learned that it all was a hoax, the man was arrested. Authorities claimed that the man wanted to commit "suicide by cop."

Officers said that the man several times told officers that they had five minutes to evacuate the casino or else he was going to blow the place up. While enticing the evacuation, the man also continually told the SWAT team negotiators to shoot him or he was going to blow up the casino.

The delay in gambling did not come at a great time for Arizona Charlie's. Las Vegas casinos have experienced a slow summer and the past couple of years have also brought declining revenue. Every day is important to the casinos in the hopes that the revenue figures will soon return to pre-recession levels.

Macau has overtaken Las Vegas as the casino gambling capital of the world. In August, Macau casinos had another forty percent increase in revenue. For several months in a row, Macau casinos have experienced large gains in revenue. Several of the Macau properties are owned by Las Vegas gaming companies.
