Gambling Industry Funds Treatment Center In Weston-Super-Mare

For all of the bad things that people claim come along with legalized gambling, there are also many benefits. In the UK, the gambling industry funds GamCare, an organization that offers help to suffering gambling addicts.

The combination of GamCare and the gaming industry has once again teamed up to help in the creation of a new treatment center in Weston-super-Mare. Broadway Lodge will be run a s a charity, and will provide residential treatment for those that are suffering from problem gambling.

"Broadway Lodge is a much needed facility and it once again shows how the gaming industry can do many good things for a community," said observer Nicholas Geary, "although they are construed by many to be the cause of the gambling problems, the fact is that the regulated gaming industry promotes only socially moderate gambling."

There is a global fear that problem gambling could get worse in the coming months. The recession has caused many people to lose their jobs and officials believe that some of these people could turn to gambling to try and keep their financial freedom.

"We have to be extremely careful to ensure that we are prepared should there be an increase in problem gambling. We understand the financial pressures that are mounting on people, and we will do our best to provide the best treatment available should a problem develop," said counselor Bridgette Shorsky.
