Gambling More Than Money, People Offer Houses, Cars, Even Wives
With gambling becoming as big around the world as it is today, people have grown bored with just betting money. Many people are now finding alternate ways to gamble outside of putting up their money.
Friends have become enthralled with winning something other than money from their buddies. Last year a Mthatha man wagered his entire life on an Orlando Pirates victory over The Keizer Chiefs. The Pirates did not win.
What did the man lose? He lost his house, his car, and even his wife. This was the most unfortunate of situations because the man did not want to pay up on the bet and ended up committing suicide.
This, of course, is an extreme situation, but it does show that people have become bored with simply betting money. "When my friends and I go out, sometimes we bet a ring, or a necklace. Other times we just bet dinner or something," said Mike Jericho of Dublin.
Even casinos have now found that simple cash does not bring in customers. Many casinos around the world have began to change their marketing strategy. More and more casinos are giving away cars and trips as grand prizes to their give away promotions.
Competition is growing around the world with more countries legalizing different forms of gambling, and it is leading to innovative prizes. Prizes that are no longer just a dream of winning large amounts of life changing money.
