Gambling Opposition Move Case in Columbus
Some of gambling?s most outspoken critics held a news conference here today to blast renewed plans to legalize slot machines in Ohio. There are four competing proposals to install up to 3,500 slot machines at each of Ohio?s seven horse tracks and two other sites in downtown Cleveland. The newest plan unveiled this week calls for a slots parlor in Cincinnati.
David P. Zanotti, president of the Ohio Roundtable, a non-profit public policy group opposed to all forms of gambling, including MegaMillions and the state Lottery, promised to wage an ad campaign against a Nov. 7 statewide ballot issue. Zanotti?s Cleveland-area group also opposes embryonic stem-cell research, human cloning and judicial activism, but is for lower taxes, strong national defense, term limits and school choice - public school vouchers and charter schools online casino gambling programs
