Gambling Promotion Causes Casino Employees To Be Suspended
Promotions in a casino are important in the everyday survival of the casinos. People come out and gamble on days when they know there are promotional giveaways. The importance of these promotions is most likely what led to four employees being suspended after a computer malfunction.
Four employees of Empire City at Yonkers Raceway were suspended after a computer malfunction occurred while on their watch. The casino was holding a "Play off your Mortgage" promotion.
The promotion gave people the chance to enter a contest in which the grand prize was $250,000. The money was given away at 9:00 P.M. and followed several earlier prize giveaways. It was the people that were left out of the drawings, however, that cost the employees some work time.
The system that was handling this specific promotion broke down and was not functioning correctly from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.. Some people were able to get themselves registered, there were many more who did not.
The winner of the promotion had luck on her side for the entire night. She first won a $10,000 drawing at 8:00. Then, she took the grand prize as well when she was picked to win the $250,000. Bette Slutsky was pleased after winning both giveaways.
