Gambling Resumes Saturday At St. Louis Casino After Flood
This is not the best of times for natural disaster to make casinos close down. On Tuesday, the President Casino in St. Louis, Missouri had to do just that after a flood.
The flood on the Mississippi had brought high levels of water and officials have been waiting for the water to subside. On Saturday, the casino was cleared to re-open, and no damage was done outside of some revenue loss.
Revenue has already been declining at many casinos throughout the US. The flood will not help the President Casino or the rest of the city casinos when revenue figures come out for the month of May.
"I would think that the casino will have revenue numbers below where they were expected," said observer Katie Gross, "the people of St. Louis are strong supporters of the casino though, so the casino may make the money back now that they are re-opened."
Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. is the owner of the President, and they have been one of the companies that has been hit hard by the current economy. At the close of the day on Friday, the company's stock price was at $10.67 a share.
