Give Cincinnati Casino Choice

Casinos, racinos, gambling boats surround Ohio. The Enquirer's Dan Horn reported that over 430,000 southwest Ohioans frequent the gambling establishments within driving distance of the Queen City in Indiana and Illinois. An additional 500,000-plus in northeast Ohio have more choices. They can drive to West Virginia, New York State, Canada or Detroit. These Ohioans expend over $350 million per year at these out-of-state establishments.

These Ohioans, who choose to gamble, help pave the roads, build the bridges and educate the children of our adjoining states. The City Council members who the Enquirer criticized should have been lauded for standing up for Cincinnati. They are tired of Greater Cincinnati being disrespected by the Cleveland group, which wants you to vote for a casino in Cleveland but not in Cincinnati.

Why? Penn National, which owns Argosy and does not want any competition, threatened to put a competing issue on the ballot if Cincinnati was not removed from the original proposal.
