Grants Waterhouse Gambling House Could Close Without Tax Relief
A turnover tax has a popular betting house uneasy about their future. Grants Waterhouse is letting everyone who will listen know, if something is not done about the turnover tax, they may have to shut their doors for good.
Grants Waterhouse provides a safe place for people who want to place bets, but they fear that they soon will not be able to stay open. They claim that the recent turnover tax changes from the last budget have put a severe dent in theirs, and others business.
"Grants Waterhouse is not viable as a business or means to collect tax under the present system of gambling turnover tax. Many of the twelve branches are losing money. One branch has closed," said General Manager Peter McCoy.
He claims that since gamblers place many bets throughout the day, the turnover tax has caused them to place fewer bets and also the entertainment value. He says that his clients have lost interest.
"The last budget changes to gambling turnover tax and expansion of Internet use has led to the imminent demise of this entertainment industry. The increase in gambling turnover tax has been devastating to Grants Waterhouse," said McCoy.
The company has sent a proposal to the government to try and find a solution to their problem that will satisfy both parties involved. McCoy did not reveal the details of that proposal.
