Greektown Casino Announces Large Revenue Increase In June
While other casinos around the US are struggling to keep the business that they once enjoyed, Greektown Casino-Hotel in Detroit, Michigan is thriving. For the third straight month, Greektown had revenue increases over last year.
The June figures are in at Greektown, and the casino can enjoy being one of the few successful casinos left in the US. Their revenue figures for the month of June were up 24.2% over the previous year. That is an unbelievable jump at a time when most casinos are experiencing double-digit declines.
"To grow revenues 24% in this economy is something each Greektown team member can be proud of, but more than that, I cannot emphasize enough that we are doing this while dramatically growing our profits and increasing our operating margins," said Randall A. Fine, Chief Executive Officer of Greektown.
The company has also increased their workforce because of the revenue increase. They have hired workers to accommodate their growing gaming and entertainment business. The casino is hoping that the growing continues with their "Match Windsor" promotion. They have taken many customers from Windsor.
The other casinos in Detroit have not had nearly the success of Greektown. In May, the other casinos in Detroit had their revenues decline 4.2%. Greektown, meanwhile, posted a 7.2% gain from May of 2008.
