Greektown Casino Hoping Lower Buffet Price Attracts Customers
It has been said that food is the way to a man's heart. If that is the case, Greektown Casino in Detroit, Michigan, is relying on food to bring as many customers as possible through their doors.
The casino has announced on Wednesday that they will be cutting their buffet price almost in half. The old price to enjoy the buffet was $19.99, but now the casino has slashed that price to $9.99.
The news comes on the heels of Greektown announcing that they have secured a market share in Detroit of twenty five percent. That figure is up from the 23.5% in February, and it is a figure that the casino points to in a hope of what may be to come.
"In January, $22 of every $100 spent on gaming was spent at Greektown," said Amanda Totaro, an Executive with The Fine Point Group, "Today, $25 out of every $100 comes to Greektown Casino." The Fine Point has been managing Greektown as a consultant since late last year.
Greektown filed for bankruptcy protection back in May of 2008. The twenty five percent market share for March was the casinos best since entering bankruptcy. The competition for customers in Detroit is heating up between Greektown and MGM Grand Detroit.
A current promotion at MGM has customers receiving $10 in free play if they show their Greektown players cards. They realize the impact Greektown is having on the casino market, and they are targeting Greektown customers.
