Ground Broken On Gun Lake Casino In Michigan
Michigan is becoming quite the hot spot for the casino gambling industry. With business booming in Detroit, there now will be a new casino that joins the existing casinos in the state. Ground was broken this past week for the Gun Lake Casino.
The casino has been in the works for almost a decade. Station Casinos became involved in the project five years ago, and the development of the casino has been slow. Finally, the tribe that proposed the casino will see its dream come to fruition.
Even though the project is finally off the ground, it will still be a while before the entire project is complete. Station Casinos has run into financial difficulties with the economy crashing, so now the casino will be built in phases.
"Given the current economic conditions, it makes sense for us to build this project in phases," said Tribal Chairman D.K. Sprague, "This will allow us to bring jobs to our area sooner, and we look forward to planning and developing the next phase as the economy recovers."
The casino will be another boost to the local economy in Michigan. A state that has been hit as hard as any can use a little good news. The automobile industry collapse has put many people out of work, and the new casino is expected to re-employ around 600 Michigan residents.
