Harrah's Casino In Kansas No Longer Second Best In The State
For the past five years there have only been two casinos at the top of the pecking chain in Kansas. One was Ameristar Kansas City Casino and Hotel, which has held the top spot since its inception back in 1994.
The other was Harrah's North City Casino and Hotel. They have been number two for the past five years, but things have now changed and they have been replaced.
Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa has overtaken Harrah's as the number two revenue making casino in Kansas. They had a July winning of $16.48 million compared to the $16.1 million from Harrah's.
"It's pretty exciting. It's the result of the people that work here. What we're doing is working and it's what the guest obviously is looking for...whether it's dealing the cards, or the meals, or the correct marketing or the bathrooms being clean," said General Manager of Argosy, Tom Burke.
While the numbers say they are now number three, Harrah's will not be making any drastic moves to try and gain back their number two status. They claim that people will once again make them number two, and that there is no reason to panic.
"We don't want to overreact to something like this. We're going to continue monitoring what our competitors are doing. At the end of the day we have to answer to our customers, our employees, and our owners," said Harrah's spokeswoman, Carol Henry.
