Harrah's Entertainment Bringing Margaritaville Casino To Biloxi

The city of Biloxi is already known for it's gambling casinos, but on Tuesday, plans were announced to build a new $700 million casino-resort. The new adventure will be called Margaritaville Casino and Resort and ground is expected to be broken this summer.

Singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett was on hand at the news conference and he performed two songs, "It's My Job", and of course, "Margaritaville".

Charles Atwood is the vice chairman of Harrah's Entertainment, and a resident of Pascagoula, the city Buffett was born, said that the new hotel will have 420 to go along with another 378 rooms from the renevated Casino Magic Hotel.

Buffett's Margaritaville restaurants are #1 in their market areas, and in addition to bringing the restaurant to the casino, Harrah's also called on Simon Property Group to help develop what is to become a world class resort.

In addition to the restaurant, there will be 100,000 square feet of casino floor space, and a 250,000 square foot complex of restaurants, entertainment, and shopping.

Buffett, who played his first gig in Biloxi at Trader John's, had this to say,"Wait until all my cousins and relatives find out I have a casino in Biloxi."
