Harrah's Working Hard To To Expand With Latest Casino Merger Proposal
Harrah's Entertainment, less than two years ago bought London Clubs International. It was an attempt to move into the overseas market. Now the company has plans much bigger than LCI.
Harrah's has made a move to possibly create a forty casino company. The merger would be between Harrah's LCI, and Gala Coral Groups Gala Casinos.
The move would create a major shift in power. The Stanley casino chain would have serious competition should the merger take place. If created, the group would become the second biggest casino operator in the UK.
LCI has been actively seeking a partner in this operation. Only a few months ago, the company submitted a proposal to Rank. The proposal would have called for LCI to give up its business in exchange for a twenty eight percent stake in the newly formed Rank group. The proposal was not given serious consideration.
This proposal may be similar to the one offered to Rank. The details of this offer have not yet been revealed, however. It is not known whether LCI would be sold, or if a swap of the company business for shares of Gala was part of the proposed deal.
