Hollywood Slots Casino Has Record Day At Grand Opening In Maine
Hollywood Slots has been in the works from Penn National Gaming for a while, but not until Tuesday did they hold their grand opening. The casino, which replaced a temporary one up the street, broke records for attendance at the grand opening.
Back in November of 2005 Penn National opened their temporary casino in what was formerly Miller's Restaurant in Maine. On Tuesday, they held their grand opening at Hollywood Slots, the permanent casino.
The casino is equipped with over 1,000 slot machines. That figure over doubles the amount of machines that the temporary casino was housing. In addition to the slots, the casino also has two restaurants, and a 1,500 spot parking garage.
Later in the year the casino is also expected to open a 152 room hotel. An additional 500 slot machines could be added by Penn National if they chose to do so.
The grand opening on Tuesday was a big lift for a casino that had seen their revenues drop for the first five months of this year from last years numbers. Over 9,000 people attended the grand opening.
The top amounts from the temporary casino were more than doubled at the grand opening on Tuesday, but the exact figures were not released.
