Honda Recall Leads Gamblers To Dealerships Instead Of Casinos
Most gamblers only have a set time when they can get away from the family or work to head off to the casino. The limited time is one reason why thousands of gamblers are upset over a massive Honda recall that will affect almost 500,000 vehicles.
Honda recalled the Accord, Element, and Civic from the years 2003 and 2004 in the US. In Canada, the Acura 1.7 EL's have also been recalled. Honda had been under investigation by US safety inspectors back in 2008, and now the problem has grown enough to push the recall.
The safety problem in question has to do with the cars having the ability to roll even when the car is off. The ignition interlock lever is faulty in many of these vehicles, making it possible that the key could be taken out of the car without the car being in park. That defect could cause the cars to roll.
The recall comes at a tough time for gamblers who are concentrating their efforts these next couple of weeks on getting their children prepared to go back to school. The extra family time and the need to bring their cars in to be serviced has caused many of these gamblers to adjust their priorities.
"I was planning on going to the casino with my Aunt on Friday," said Brittney Cronson. "I am a teacher and I go back to school next week, so it was going to be my last day of enjoying my summer. Now I have to bring my car in to be fixed, so the casino idea is out the window."
Casinos around the US have already been dealing with declining revenues this summer. The recall should only add to an already disappointing summer, even in areas where casino laws have been changed to allow for gambling expansion.
