Indian Casinos Leading The Way In The United States
The 2008-2009 edition of the Indian Gaming Industry Report from Casino City Press was released this week. The results from the report indicate that tribal casinos are still prospering in the face of an economic meltdown in the United States.
The report shows that tribal casinos have had an increase in revenue of five percent in 2007. While that figure is lower than in 2005 and 2006, it still shows that the tribal casinos are making money while other casinos in the country are having their revenue slashed.
California and Connecticut are the two biggest states in terms of gambling revenue. They make up thirty nine percent of all gaming revenue for Indian facilities in the country.
With the United States economy in shambles, the tribal casinos continue to do their part to help the economy. They are making significant contributions to wages and employment.
Wyoming and Alaska saw a major increase in their gaming revenue. Wyoming was up sixty six and a half percent while Alaska jumped thirty two point two percent.
"Amidst a struggling economy, Indian gaming experienced modest growth in 2007. The slower growth was attributable to the slowdown in the general economy, as well as public policies designed to restrict the supply of Indian gaming," said Dr. Alan Meister, an economist with Analysis Group, Inc..
