Indian casino gambling has been on the rise for several years now, and the numbers for 2006 are in and prove that to be true. According to federal numbers announced Monday, Indian casinos in 2006 pulled in more than $25 billion, which is more than 10% higher than they reported to have made in 2005.

Indian casinos brought in $12.8 billion from their gambling casinos in 2001, $22.5 billion in 2005 and $25.1 billion in 2006, according to the National Indian Gaming Commission.

Indian gaming has expanded by exponential proportions since it began building bingo halls in 1988. Last year was a big year for Indian tribes as the Broward County, Florida law that was voted on years go to allow full slot gaming became effective. The vote resulted in the Seminole Indian Tribe opening the new Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida that would rival any entertainment complex in the world.

More and more Indian tribes have followed the example of the Seminoles in Florida. As a result Indian casinos across the nation are proliferating. The Indian casinos are much more than gambling complexes too. Most tribes are building facilities that are all inclusive, meaning, they include almost an entire city within their confines. High end shopping, bars, restaurants, pools, hotels, etc., are all being built to entice visitors to come from further away and stay longer once they get there.

The Seminoles of Florida also bought the entire Hard Rock franchise which is expected to increase the Indian tribe funding immensely.
