Indiana Live Casino Gambling Opens To Much Fanfare
With the amount of casinos that are opening across the US these days, it is a wonder that there are enough entertainers to bring in for the opening ceremonies. For Indiana Live in Indianapolis, they went right to the top of the food chain.
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday night at the new casino. The $200 million casino had been operating from a temporary location, but on Friday the permanent casino was opened.
"Crowd is not a word that we can use tonight. It's quite an understatement," said Mayor Scott Furgeson. He was speaking about the thousands of people who were on hand for the festivities.
It may have been a nice ceremony, but what people were really there for was to get a glimpse of the new casino. The casino has 2,000 slot machines, and on this night that was not enough to meet the demands. Nearly every machine was being played shortly after the casino opened its doors.
In addition to the slots, there were also lines of people waiting for drinks at the casinos' bars. Restaurants were a big draw on opening night as well, with many people wanting to find out just how top notch the cuisine was going to be.
The opening created quite a stir in the surrounding area. Traffic was backed up as thousands of people waited their turn to go into the casino. The capacity for Indiana Downs is 8,000, and the casino was hopeful by the end of the night that number would be reached.
