Interactive Slots at Casinos are the Wave of the Future

Walk into any Las Vegas casino and head to the crowd, check out the slots being played and you will find yourself a spectator of one of the hottest new slot games buzzing through the industry. The new slots are interactive and they promote sociability amongst casino patrons.

Right now the hottest slot drawing the biggest crowd is the Wheel of Fortune, and what most people don't know about the game is that all players are actually sharing the winnings. The Wheel of Fortune was the first successful form of this new slot gaming idea released by International Game Technology. It allows nine players to sit around the over-sized wheel and share winnings while others watch in excitement to see the big wheel spin.

Last week at Las Vegas' annual trade show, Paul Oneile, CEO of Aristocrat Technologies, announced that interactive type slots are the wave of the future and the means by which slot developers will replenish flailing machine sales in recent years.

"I think the whole industry has to look at ways of making the industry more interactive. I think there will be much more communal playing, it adds to the overall excitement," Oneile said.

Other machines that people may recognize that are also interactive games like the Wheel of Fortune are Monopoly, which feature over-sized rolling dice in a plastic ball above the machine, and the lesser known Price is Right slot, which features a Rob Riley animated character and a big bonus round wheel that spins when activated.

New technology is also changing the table game industry by allowing bettors to stand behind the players at the table and bet on the players. Poker also has introduced dealer-less tables. The table gaming technology has not caught on in America, but the games are big hits in Macau, the new gambling income capital of the world.
