Isle of Capri Gets Casino License, Loses Long-Term President
The company, Isle of Capri, announced Wednesday that they have received a gambling license from Florida to build a $167 million casino in Pompano Beach, Florida. Construction has already begun. Thursday they released to the press the announcement that their president and chief operating officer was stepping down.
Construction for their Pompano Beach casino began in June of 2006 and will continue until the opening which is expected in the late winter or early spring of 2007-2008. The casino will feature 1,500 slots, a full poker room, many restaurants, and multi-level bar.
Meanwhile the company will be searching for a new president to replace Tim Hinkley, who is stepping down after 17 years of service. Hinkley will remain as active president until a replacement is found.
"Tim has successfully led our Company through a period of significant evolution and development," said Bernard Goldstein, chairman of Isle of Capri, "I am saddened by Tim's decision to leave Isle of Capri and we wish him well."
Isle of Capri operates 13 casinos across the country and some in other countries, too. Thursday, their stock was on the rise following the announcement of their new casino in Florida.
