Jamaicans have many reasons to change their minds on the issue of casino gambling. The increased revenue and the addition of jobs are just two of those reasons.

Whatever the underlying reason may be, Jamaicans are ready for the government to lift the current ban on casino gambling. A recent poll suggests that many Jamaicans have switched their stance on casino gambling.

The Bill Johnson Poll, which is commissioned by the Jamaican Gleaner, has evidence that Jamaicans are moving more towards embracing the idea of casino gambling. Forty Eight percent of the people polled said they were in favor of sanctioning casino games by the state.

The amount of people who felt casino gambling should remain illegal has dropped fifteen percent from the last poll in 2006. Back then, fifty five percent of Jamaicans wanted the laws to stay the same. This year, only forty percent still believe gambling should remain illegal.

Still, as public support grows, there are those who believe the public opinion is not always correct. "What is proper is not necessarily proper,"said the Reverend Karl Johnson, President of the Jamaica Council of Churches.
