Jay Leno to Visit New Riverside Casino Complex
In Iowa City, they are just one month away from the grand opening of the next major casino gambling facility named the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort.
Project developers marked with occasion with the launch of a major ad campaign and an entertainment announcement. Iowa native Tom Arnold will be the headline act for the resort and casino on its first day, August 31st. 2 weeks later, Tonight Show host Jay Leno will appear at the brand new complex.
The ad campaign will feature construction workers talking about how nice the $120-million dollar facility will be for guests. Commercials began airing in Cedar Rapids, the Quad Cities and Des Moines on Monday. Newspaper ads touting the grand opening begin this coming weekend.
Casino managers say the complex just received a temporary occupancy permit last Friday. That meant managers could move from trailers into permanent offices. And many of the 850 or so newly hired workers can begin training in the casino itself instead of nearby outlying buildings.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission awarded 4 new casino licenses in May of 2005. Much smaller casinos in Emmetsburg and Worth County has already opened. Riverside will be the third of the four to begin gambling. Waterloo's project is still set to open next spring.
