Judge Sides With Paul McCartney Over Gambling Heather Mills
Heather Mills should have been singing silly love songs when she fell into the arms of former Beatle Paul McCartney. Instead, she turned out to look like nothing more than a gold digger.
McCartney fell for the lovely Mills only a year after losing the love of his life, Linda McCartney. As time went on, it looked more and more like the love affair was nothing more than a rebound fling for McCartney.
The couple did get married and have a child together before separating. Over the past several years, they have been going through a bitter divorce. Mills took the gamble to represent herself in the proceedings after firing her lawyer.
That gamble did not pay off. She was awarded a lucrative amount of money in the divorce, but not anywhere near what she wanted. When asked if she could have gotten more if she had a lawyer, her response was that she was happy with the outcome.
The judge in his words to the former couple, claimed that Mills was a "less than impressive witness". He did say that she was devoted to her charities.
That charity has not been shown to McCartney in the past few years. She painted the former Beatle as an abusive husband who had violently attacked her. Those allegations were never proven.
The ruling came down from the judge after a nearly two year battle. The amount awarded was only a fifth of what Mills was seeking, clearly a victory for Sir Paul.
