The Macau gambling industry has become so popular among gaming analysts that the industry is now followed on a weekly and not monthly basis. According to one analyst, Macau casinos have seen a revenue increase of seventy percent in the first couple of weeks in June.
The first few months of 2010 have been astonishing for Macau casinos. Revenue has jumped fifty to ninety percent in certain months, and analysts expect that trend will continue throughout the year. The Chinese government has once again eased visa restrictions, which is good news for the casinos.
Earlier this year, the government in Macau, in conjunction with casino owners, decided that the growth was enough over the past few years. The government will not allow for any more gaming licenses outside of the projects that are already in progress.
Deutsche Bank AG Analyst Karen Tang has raised her annual prediction to a fifty percent increase in 2010 for Macau casinos. That is up from the original prognostication of thirty-five percent for the year.
Junket operators are being given the credit for the increase in business over the past several months. These junket operators are receiving an increase in credit, and that has made it easier to bring gamblers into Macau.
Macau overtook Las Vegas as the gambling capital of the world several years ago and they have no intentions of giving that title back. While Las Vegas casinos continue to struggle after the economic recession in the US, Macau casinos have experienced an influx of business from Asian gamblers.
