Kansas Casino Gambling Ante Rising With Each Passing Deadline

The state of Kansas is hoping that this time around they do not make the same mistakes that they made the first time. The process of choosing a developer is once again coming to an end and the gaming companies have not made the choices easy.

In Sumner County, South Central Gaming Partners upped the ante by telling commissioners that they would add a hotel to the first phase of their building plan. The company was forced to do so because of other bids that had already been approved by the County.

This week also saw the approval of two proposals in Wyandotte County. Penn National Gaming and a partnership that includes the Kansas Speedway have both been approved by commissioners. They will now wait on Wyandotte County and Kansas City officials' endorsement.

In order to be in the running to receive the casinos bids, developers must be endorsed locally. Several in Sumner County have been endorsed, and one in Dodge City is already under construction.

A few years ago four state owned casinos were approved by the state of Kansas. Since then, four developers had been chosen to build the casinos, but three have pulled out of their agreements, mainly because of the economy.
