Kansas Casinos Out To Prove It You Build It They Will Come

The new Kansas Star casino has been in the works for over four years. That long delay between when the casino was approved, and when it will finally open in less than three weeks has provided gamblers ample opportunity to get excited. To some, the anticipation has even turned to frustration in recent years.

The finish line is near, however, with the casino expected to be open on December 26th. The final preparations are being made, and residents of Kansas are starting to get excited about the possibility of gambling without having to travel out of state.

"I was excited the minute we passed the law allowing the four casinos," said Wanda Burnside. "I didn't think it would take this long, but they say all good things are worth the wait. I just hope that is the case with the casino, because I can't wait to go and play some slots and have some fun with my friends."

The casino has had an indication of the type of action it can expect through its Players Club. The Club has already had over 25,000 sign-ups, with more expected before the grand opening. The casino has created a buzz in Southwest Kansas that has rarely been seen before.

"Everyone is talking about it all over town," said Grant Bilcox, a pharmaceutical representative from Kansas. "My friends and co-workers can't wait for the opening. We've all been to casinos in other states, but never one here close to home. It should be a great new experience and I'm looking forward to the day after Christmas."

The timing could not have been better for the Kansas Star. The casino is expected to bring thousands of permanent jobs to Kansas residents, and has already supplied over a thousands temporary construction jobs. The jobs, in addition to the millions of dollars in revenue the casino will generate for the state, has everyone in a jolly mood these days in Kansas.

"I have been out of work for almost a year," said one worker who was hired by the casino but wished to remain anonymous. "So this opportunity came as a gift, and I can't wait to start. It will be the best Christmas present to finally have a steady flow of income. I couldn't be any happier right now."

The casino will have thirty-two table games and 1,300 slot machines for gamblers to enjoy. The facility opening later this month will only be temporary, while the permanent casino is completed. The final product will include a 100,000 square-foot equestrian center.
