Kansas Lottery Commission Turns Down Late Casino Application
The competition in Kansas for their new casino licenses has been heating up. Last week, a Las Vegas company tried to enter the competition late by submitting an application after the deadline.
The company, Epic Gaming, claimed that they had a problem with their copy machine, and therefore could not get the application in by the deadline. They asked the Commission to extend the deadline by one day.
On Monday, the Commission made their decision and the news is not good for Epic. There will be no extension of the deadline, which means that Epic's opportunity to run a casino in Ford County has ended.
They were proposing a $65 million complex in Dodge City. The denial of their request leaves only two potential suitors for Ford County. Both of the remaining groups are based out of Las Vegas, just as Epic.
Kansas is going to own the four casinos that are picked to be built in the state. They will all be put in different counties. Although the state will own the casino, it will be run and managed by whichever group is picked by the Commission.
