Kansas Lottery Study Claims Gambling Revenue Will Be High

Even though it has already been approved that there will be casinos in four counties in Kansas, there were still doubts as to how much money would be generated by these casinos. A study was done to find these projections.

The Kansas Lottery had the study done so they could estimate revenue money for the state. The numbers that came back as part of the study were astounding.

It was estimated that $739 million would be generated by not only the four casinos, but also at the dog and horse racing park that was given the rights to slot machines with the new law. Camptown Greyhound Park in Frontenac and the Woodlands are the two locations for the slot machines.

Cherokee, Sumner, Wyandotte, and Ford counties were all awarded casinos with the new law that was put in place last year. The counties are in the process of finalizing proposals from developers. The Kansas Lottery Commission will have the ultimate last word on the who gets the gaming licenses.

Although there is still a legal battle going on over the new casinos, it is expected that the challenge will fall short. Once the developers are picked, they will begin building the casinos, and the state will begin to see some of that $739 million.

The study also took into account that two new Indian casinos will be built in Oklahoma, right on the other side of the state line from Kansas.
