Every time it appears that the state of Kansas cannot become any more confused about their casino gambling situation, one of the four counties approved for a new casino does something to further delay the process.

On Thursday, Wyandotte County officials voted 6-4 in favor of scheduling a vote on two casino proposals. Now that the vote has been approved by a vote, it will be scheduled and will give Commissioners more time to decide which proposal to endorse for a Kansas City casino.

"This is the biggest development we're going to vote on in a long time, so I want to get it right," said Commissioner Mark Holland. This is not the first go-around for these commissioners when it comes to the casino expansion.

The state of Kansas has approved four state-owned casino a couple of years ago. To date, only one of the four developers chosen the first time through the process is building their casino. The other three contract winners have pulled out of their deals.

The Wyandotte decision that is left to be made is either for a casino next to the Kansas Speedway, or a casino and hotel next to Schlitterbahn Vacation Village. There is a difference of $67 million between the two proposals.
