Kerzner International Preserves Bid For Casino-Resort
Despite the shocking death of CEO Butch Kerzner, Kerzner International, Ltd. will move forward with plans to build a casino in Singapore. Kerzner is an international resort and casino gaming developer with properties worldwide. They became a household name with the creation of Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
Kerzner International and a local Singapore partner, are among 3 companies competing for the final license to develop and operate a casino gambling resort on Sentosa Island, Singapore. Sinagapore has really stepped up efforts to increase tourism through mega-resort development on their islands.
Singapore legalized casino gambing last year and said it would allow 2 casino resorts to be built. Back in the summer, the 1st license was awarded to Las Vegas Sands to build and operate in Singapore.
Butch Kerzner, a graduate of Stanford University and son of Sol Kerzner, the founder of Kerzner International, was scouting real estate in the Dominican Republic yesterday when his helicopter unexpectantly crashed into a steel structure.
Paul Oneil, an active board member, will temporarily take over the helm as CEO of the Bahamian based-developer. At CasinoGamblingWeb.com, we send our most sincere condolences to the Kerzner family. He was an outstanding citizen, truly admired by all of us in the industry.
