Las Vegas And Atlantic City Still Searching For Gambling Answers

Las Vegas and Atlantic City are the two most celebrated casino gambling destinations in the US. For decades, casino owners, New Jersey, and Nevada, have basked in the glory of the success of their gaming industries.

The past couple of years have not brought anywhere near the excitement that past decades have seen. The economic recession has financially destroyed many casinos, and competition from other states is coming at the worst possible time.

Despite the negative news, both Las Vegas and Atlantic City believe there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. For Nevada, that light may include a boost from the new MGM Mirage CityCenter project. It was completed late last year, and is a spectacle for those interested in having a top of the line gaming experience.

The problem for MGM and CityCenter, is that many people around the world have either prioritized their gambling habits, or have taken these habits to a casino closer to home. Las Vegas used to be filled with gamblers from Asia, but now those high rollers have be re-routed to Macau.

Atlantic City is facing a similar problem. Delaware, New York, Maryland, and Connecticut have all stepped up their gambling options. Pennsylvania, meanwhile, may have become the most dangerous competitor to AC casinos.

Pennsylvania lawmakers recently passed legislation legalizing table games at casinos in the state. This comes at a time when Pennsylvania casinos had higher slot revenue in December that AC casinos for the first time in history.

Las Vegas and Atlantic City officials believe it is a matter of when, and not if their industries will again reign supreme. For now though, the road has been rocky and does not appear to be straightening out anytime soon.
