Las Vegas CityCenter Gaming Expected Next Week
MGM Mirage and Dubai World have had a rocky relationship in their bid to bring the CityCenter project to Las Vegas. While both companies have struggled to secure funding for the CityCenter project, it is less than one week away from accepting their first customers.
First, it was MGM Mirage that had to worry whether or not their partner in the project, Dubai World, was going to pull out of the deal. A lawsuit was filed and there was a chance that the two companies would no longer be in business together.
At the end of the day, however, Dubai World and MGM Mirage settled their differences, with MGM agreeing to front any overages in the CityCenter project.
Now, it appears that the recent Dubai World restructuring will not have an affect on the future of CityCenter. The two companies agree that there is movement in the direction of the completion of the Las Vegas casino resort project.
"CityCenter is fully funded, on schedule and ready to begin welcoming guests starting next week," said an MGM Spokeswoman, to Reuters in an e-mail, "Our joint venture is unaffected by Dubai World's announcement."
The announcement concerned those that felt that the restructuring of the Dubai World company could lead to a default in debt payments. The two companies both denied those fears, and claimed that the CityCenter project was not in any danger.
