Las Vegas Rival Macau Gets New Hotel And Casino
Melcro PBL and the Hong Kong listed company of Melco have put their collective sources together and bankrolled an unbelievable, $583 million casino called Crown Macau.
The casino is a huge 36 story tower that features 216 hotel rooms, 500 slot machines, and 220 gaming tables. The casino can only boost the ever growing casino industry on the island of Macau.
The island has a population of 500,000 and is becoming a mecca for gambling since the island has loosened it's gambling regulations.
As with what is happening in places like Atlantic City, New Jersey, the increase of relaxed gambling regulations around the world is leading to people staying closer to home to do their gambling.
Macau is an interesting story, last year's numbers show a $7.2 billion in revenue last year, compared to $6.6 billion from Las Vegas casinos. That means that Macau is now the leader in casino gambling in the world.
The new casino venture of the Crown Macau was made between Packer of PBL, who took over control of the company since his dad, Kerry Packer, passed away in 2005, and Melco, which is run by Lawrence Ho, the son of Macau gaming icon Stanley Ho.
