Las Vegas Sands Bethlehem Casino Resort Opens This Week

The state of Pennsylvania seems to have a clear goal in mind when it comes to casino gambling. That goal is to replace Atlantic City as the top casino gambling destination in the Northeast.

The beginning of this week marks another step towards achieving that goal when the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem opens its doors. The opening will occur on Friday, and is sure to attract many customers in the first few months of operation. The beginning of the week, however, will be dedicated to last minute preparations.

Members of the Gaming Control Board will visit the casino on Monday. They will be testing out the 3,000 new slot machines that have been installed. The Monday testing will be by invitation only, and the revenue generated will go to charity and the state.

On Wednesday, Sands will hold another test run event. The proceeds from that will also be split among the state and charity. The casino has not yet been approved so cannot keep any of the money from the two test days.

Instead of worrying about the money on these two test days, Sands will be working out any problems that might occur from the new machines. Once the Wednesday event is complete the casino will begin preparing for their Friday opening in which thousands of people are expected.

Pennsylvania has several casino projects in the works. Pittsburgh will be getting a new casino, and Philadelphia has two casinos that will be built. The expansion comes at a time when Atlantic City casino revenue is at an all time low.
