Limerick says No to Casino Proposal

Voted Top Online Casino Several Years in a Row!

Wearing white T-shirts embossed with red and black "No Casino" symbols, Limerick area residents recently expressed to state officials their opposition to bringing a slots parlor to the township. "I like that we're still a little rural. I know development is going to happen. But I think this type of development changes the personality of a region," said Carl Kremer, who lives just a few miles from the Sanatoga interchange of Route 422 where Boyd Gaming Corp. has proposed building a $650 million casino, hotel and conference center.

Kremer, pastor of Worship and Children's Ministries of the North Pointe Community Church, joined about 25 other area residents at the Crowne Plaza Allentown Hotel where the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board held the first of three hearings to obtain public comment about three proposals for slots parlors in Limerick, Allentown and Bethlehem. Collegeville resident Dave Viola agreed that a gaming facility might help revitalize older communities like Allentown and Bethlehem that have the infrastructure and brownfields, or defunct industrial sites, to support such development.
