Lottery Gambling Sales Prospering In Bad Economy
Even though there is unprecedented expansion going on in the casino industry in the US, that does not mean that the business will be profitable. many existing casinos are having their worst revenue decreases ever during the current recession.
State lotteries, however, are seeing a different result. Figures from around the US have indicated that people are trying their luck to win the big grand prizes that the lottery offers.
Figures that have been released show a trend of rising sales over the past half year. That corresponds directly with when people started feeling the effects of a troubled economy.
Casinos in the US are struggling to figure out ways to keep their customers gambling. Revenue has decreased by up to forty percent at some casinos. Las Vegas and Atlantic City, the standards by which casinos are judged, are both in serious financial trouble.
The people of Washington D.C. seem to be having the biggest trouble dealing with the economy. Their lottery sales were up eleven percent in 2008. They had a records $45 million in sales for the year.
Other states are responding to the call for more lottery options. Florida became the new home for the multi-state Powerball lottery. in addition to hosting the drawing, they also are now offering the game to their residents.
