Louisiana Casino Gambling Comes Back Strong In July
It is about time that a state actually showed a marked improvement from one month to the next when it comes to casino gambling revenue. July was a major rebound month for the state of Louisiana and its casinos.
In July, Louisiana casinos had an increase of 13.9% in revenue over the month of June. The total revenue for all casino gambling locations in the state was $220.3 million. That was up from the $193.4.
The news was not all good for Louisiana. Even though their gaming revenue was up over JUne, it was still not on pace with the figures that were put up in July of 2008. Back in 2008, revenue at the casinos was $231.1. that represents a five percent high figure than in July of this year.
"In many states, their year over year numbers are being destroyed this year because of the economy," said observer Landon Grotes, "but also in many states they are losing revenue from month to month, so the fact that Louisiana had an increase in business from June is a good thing."
The figures that were released by the state police on Tuesday, do not include Indian casino gambling. There were mixed results across the state depending on location. One thing is certain, the competition from other states is starting to take a toll on Louisiana casino gambling.
The same type of problems are being seen in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. In the Northeast, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New York have all expanded their casino options in recent years. The same can be said for other states in the country, which is leading to less people traveling to Las Vegas to do their casino gambling.
