Louisiana Casino Gambling Slows While Hurricane Gustav Arrives
The state of Louisiana did not need another storm like Hurricane Katrina. After Katrina ruined much of the state, they spend much time, money, and effort rebuilding their state.
Now, it appears that they might be headed for that fate once again. Hurricane Gustav was headed towards Louisiana and the casinos in the state are now dealing with another slowdown in business.
In the name of safety, many people were evacuated out of Louisiana in the past few days, and that has left casinos with little customers. It does not appear that they will be getting back these gamblers anytime soon.
After all the energy that was spent rebuilding and the current state of the economy, this is not the best time for these casinos to see a slowdown. They are coming off a month in which gambling was up across the board.
Safety is the first priority in situations like this. The bottom line numbers will be crunched once the storm comes through, but a couple of days of slow business is sure to hurt casinos.
Casino revenues have been up which is a testament to their rebuilding efforts, but now they will be faced with similar challenges to regroup once again and move forward. No casinos in the country are more prepared for that challenge than the ones in Louisiana.
