Governor John Lynch wants to know what all of the ramifications would be in the state of New Hampshire expanded their casino gambling options. He did, however, say today that the gambling issue would be finished for this session if lawmakers approve a new two-year budget tomorrow.

"It's off the table for this session," said Lynch, when speaking about what he told lawmakers, "I've made that very clear." What is not clear is what will be the future of expanded gambling in the state.

Lynch, while shutting down the talk of gambling this session, gave no indication that the issue was done for good. In fact, he wants more details about gambling and what are the pros and cons of looking into the expansion.

In order to get those answers, Lynch said he will use an executive order to set up a commission that would do the homework on the gambling issue. Lynch wants to know all details, including how much money and jobs would be generated, and where the best location to put new gambling establishments would be in New Hampshire.

The state is one of many that is looking into their existing gambling laws. The competition for tourism money is becoming fierce because of the economy, and many states have already began moving towards the casino gambling era.

With every state that expands their gambling options, there is pressure on their neighbors to keep up. A similar situation is going on in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. The three states are all fighting for precious gambling revenue and they have each move towards expansion to help them win the battle.
