Macau Gains Visitors While Casinos Lose Revenue
Something is being managed incorrectly when there is an influx of customers, yet revenue numbers have decreased. That is the situation that Macau casinos find themselves in.
Revenue figures have dropped for casinos in Macau. The drop can be closely related to the credit crisis that is taking place globally. People do not have the freedom to spend money on gambling like in the past.
The ironic part of the equation for Macau casinos is that there has been an increase in visitors over last year. In October, visitor arrivals increased by eight percent over the previous year.
The arrivals coming in from China have decreased. That is due to new laws in effect that allow for only one visit every three months from Guangdong residents. China visitor numbers were down over twelve percent.
Macau has now passed Las Vegas as not only the gambling revenue capital of the casino industry, but now in number of visitors as well. From January through October over twenty five million people visited Macau.
