Macau Soars To Greater Heights With Third Quarter Gambling Revenues
Macau has built itself into the number one gambling destination in the World, and the bigger the area gets, the more revenue seems to increase.
Numbers from the third quarter were released and gambling revenue in Macau soared to $2.55 billion, that is an increase of 46 percent from last year.
In the nine months so far this year, ending on September 30th, the total casino revenue was up to $7.3 billion. That figure is more than the total revenue generated in 2006, and was up 47% from the same time last year.
Apparently the jump in revenue is attributed to the addition of many high rollers to the Macau area. It used to be that high rollers would travel across the World to come to Las Vegas, but now it is much more convenient to stay closer to home and go to Macau.
In 2002 Stanley Ho held a monopoly in Macau, but that monopoly ended that year, and since then different casino operators have moved into the territory and the area has become what it is today, the biggest gambling destination in the World.
The fact that Las Vegas based casino operators such as Sands Corporation have also played a big part in the advancement of the luxurious casino resorts in the area, making it a vacation hot spot.
