Man Gains License in Nevada After Blackjack Casino Scam Decades Ago
Nevada is usually a cut throat state. Their gambling casinos are not very forgiving when it comes to people who have beaten them out of money.
That is not the case for Angelo Stamis. He was involved in a blackjack gambling scam back in 1975 at Caesar's Palace. It was then that he lost his license.
Now, over thirty years later, Stamis will receive a second chance from the state that usually offers none. Once you lose. You lose. Except in Stamis' case.
The state Gaming Commission unanimously voted to let Stamis back into the casino game at his families casino, Jerry's Nugget. they allowed him to be re licensed to be an assistant manager at the casino.
"I'm going to prove I'm going to do everything right," said Stamis after the meeting. The vote in the Commission came after a 2-1 vote by the state Gaming Control Board. the Control Board recommended the re licensing, something they do not normally do.
They pointed to the years he has been working as the food and beverage manager at Jerry's. He will now take over the day to day casino operations at the casino.
