It has been a long time coming, but finally the opening is in sight for a much anticipated casino in Pittsburgh. On Tuesday, the media received their first look at the facility which is less than two weeks from opening.

August 5th and August 7th will serve as two of the days where the casino will have a trial run. The test run will be by invitation only, and the proceeds of the two days will to charity. It is common for these test runs to take place at newly opening casinos.

The test run serves as a way for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to make sure that everything in the casino is operating according to standard. It is also a chance for the casino to check all of their slot machines and see that they are operating properly before the casino is open to the public.

"This casino in Pittsburgh has been a long time coming, and people can't wait to get inside and play," said observer Carol Walker, "I would think that the first few weeks the casino is open it is going to be bedlam inside."

The official opening of the casino will take place on Sunday, August 9th at noon. The casino will house 3,000 slot machines, more than enough to satisfy the craving for gambling by Pittsburgh residents.

The casino had a long delay over the past year, with the original owner, Don Barden, having to give up control of the casino project because of lack of funding to complete the project. Since new ownership has taken control, the casino construction has continued swiftly, and they are now ready to show their product to the public.
