Missouri's Largest Business Organization Backs Gambling Change
Currently, the state of Missouri has a gambling loss limit in casinos of $500 that critics feel is crippling the industry. A referendum is on the ballot in November to change the law and eliminate the loss limit.
The initiative now has its biggest supporter. The largest business organization in the state has thrown their support in favor of the initiative to change the current laws.
The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry has come out in favor of passing the new law. They claim that by eliminating the loss limit, 12,000 jobs will be saved and $100 million more a year will go towards the education system.
"Voting yes is important for our schools and for our economy. The Schools First Initiative will help us keep visitors, jobs, and revenues here in Missouri," said Daniel Mehan, the CEO and President of the Chamber of Commerce.
Changing the loss limit law is essential to keeping casinos productive in the state. It is especially important for casinos near the Kansas border. They are being threatened by new casinos that will be going up in Kansas.
