Mohegan Sun Casino Expansion Plans Put On Hold Due To Economy
It used to be that casino companies were immune to the problems of the economy. People would come out and gamble no matter what their economic position. Times have changed.
Casinos around the country are having a difficult time just like companies in other industries. The economy is taking such a beating that casinos are now having a tough time staying afloat.
One of the main areas that casinos have been affected by the economy is through expansion. Many casinos have been taking on expansion projects as the casino laws loosen around the country. Now, in the face of the economy many of these projects have been put on hold.
Mohegan Sun has had an enormous expansion project in the works. they have completed several stages of the project but have now announced that they are suspending the final stage for at least a year. That will give them enough time to sort out the state of the economy.
The expansion was supposed to include a House of Blues and various luxury amenities. A thirty nine story hotel, retail and restaurant space, and a spa were all also part of the expansion plan that has now been put on hold.
