Mohegan Sun Preparing For Casino Of The Wind Opening Friday

The Mohegan Sun is expanding while other casinos are pulling back the reigns on spending. They were already one of the largest casinos in the world and their expansion is still ongoing.

On Friday, the Mohegan Sun will open Casino of the Wind. It will have a Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, twenty eight tables games, 650 slot machines, and a forty two table poker room.

"We are excited to reveal Casino of the Wind to the world. The Rockwell Group, who have been our architects since the beginning of 1996, have outdone themselves. This may be their best work yet," said President and CEO of Mohegan Sun, Mitchell Etess.

It has been over a year since the casino broke ground on the new project. On Friday, the wait will be worth it for people who will see the new facility. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by the opening of the facility.

October is planned to be a big month for Mohegan Sun. They are planning a month long celebration of the Casino of the Wind. Musical acts are scheduled to appear and daily giveaways will also take place.

One of the bigger events planned for the month is a poker tournament with the highest guaranteed prize pool on the East Coast. $750,000 guaranteed will be up for grabs in the prize pool of the tournament.
