Mohegan Sun Shows Great Profits, Promises Future Expansion
In the first two days of its highly anticipated grand opening the Mohegan Sun casino in Pennsylvania has seen more than $12 million in wagers. They have paid out more than $10 million to players. The payout percentage for the first two days equals out to nearly 90%, slightly higher than payout rates in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
The casino profited more than $1.2 million in the first two days. Of that money, nearly $700,000 will be paid in the state's gaming taxes. That money does not include the profits made by the casino from vending machines, food and beverage sales.
The Mohegan Sun casino is expected to profit more than $90 million a year and yesterday they announced huge expansion plans to their brand new Pennsylvania casino.
They intend to spend more than $740 million to add a second hotel tower, more casino space, restaurants, shops, a bowling alley and a House of Blues music hall. The construction is slated to begin close to June of 2007 and the completion date is expected in 2010.
