Money Magazine Best Places To Live: Casinos Help Ann Arbor

USA Players Accepted at Rome Casino!

Casino gambling is becoming a major entertainment option for people in the US, with many states expanding their gaming options in recent years. Areas with casinos, however, must also meet other standards before anyone picks up and relocates their families.

For those who want the best of both worlds, Ann Arbor, Michigan may be the city to check out. Money Magazine released their top 100 best places to live in the US in their August issue, and Ann Arbor comes in at number forty-six.

Ann Arbor offers residents a little bit of everything when it comes to entertainment, culture, and employment opportunities. The University of Michigan provides not only excitement in the fall when the Wolverines football team hits the field, but also the campus is the biggest employer in the city.

The city is geared towards being a college town, but Ann Arbor also offers a wide variety of museums, theatres, bike trails, and lake experiences to keep residents busy throughout the year. National chains Border's Books and Dominoes Pizza have their corporate headquarters in Ann Arbor.

Detroit has become one of the top casino gaming cities in the country. Located less than fifty miles from Ann Arbor, Detroit has several casinos available for gamblers. The less than an hour drive makes it convenient for Ann Arbor residents to make the trip there and back in the same day.

"Detroit has a gaming presence with some of the biggest gaming companies in the world, including the MGM brand," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. "With Ann Arbor coming out in the top half of this Money Magazine list, gamblers are likely to take notice if they want to go to a city good for their families and close to casinos."

Ann Arbor has a population of 116,000, and the median income in the city is $92,992. Job growth was -6.45% for 200 through 2009, but the past couple of years the economy has severely dropped that figure. Before the economic recession, the job growth percentage had been positive.
